Tool Steels

4340

4340 steel is a low alloy and heat treatable steel containing chromium, nickel, and molybdenum. Mainly used in power transmission gears and shafts, aircraft landing gear, and other structural parts. It has high toughness and strength in the heat-treated condition and can be hardened up to >53HRC.

M2

M2 is a Molybdenum high speed tool steel used in cutting and forming tools. Its high Carbon content allows for very high hardness (>64HRC) after hardening and tempering cycles, also manifested in great wear resistance without loss of toughness.
